SCN (Saskatchewan Communications Network) announces some major programming initiatives
Date Posted: 2011-11-03

Regina, Saskatchewan (November 1, 2011) In supporting its mandate of producing original Saskatchewan created programming, SCN is engaging in several initiatives focused on continued growth of SCN’s audience and the expansion of its appeal to viewers in Saskatchewan.

The evolution of 5Days: SCN is committed to establishing 5Days as an original, authoritative voice in the Province, and expanding its impact and reach.  While the network reviews  all elements of the show 5Days is being placed on temporary hiatus so Ted Delanghe, Executive Producer and Bruce Steele, Co-executive Producer and  Host, can have the time to work with SCN management toward building a plan to further grow the 5Days voice amongst TV viewers.  “Ted and I appreciate the opportunity to work with SCN and Bluepoint staff on the future of this project” says Steele. SCN will be scheduling “best of” 5Days episodes as well as other replacement programs in its time slot during this hiatus period.

15 Minutes of Fame:  SCN plans to revive what was a popular program initiative in the past, by introducing a new season of 15 Minutes of Fame as an addition to its programming mix in the new year.  According to Richard Gustin, Director of Domestic Programming for SCN, “15 Minutes of Fame started as a fun project years ago.  It became a hugely popular show with viewers and generated over one hundred videos from all walks of life across the Province.  If any show reflects the voice and the enthusiasm of this Province, this is It.”, SCN believes this is a perfect time to re-introduce it to our viewers and is certain the series will be just as well-loved as it had been in the past.

SCN Presents -The Neighbors Dog is a music series produced by Saskatoon’s Plan 9 Films which gives viewers a front-row seat at house concerts and proves to be a continuing popular program amongst the SCN audience.”The second season of The Neighbors Dog -which included great Saskatchewan acts such as The Sheepdogs and Library Voices has been enthusiastically applauded by our viewers.” stated Joanne McDonald, General Manager of SCN.  SCN is therefore pleased to sign The Neighbors Dog for a third season-prompted in large part by the quality of the show, the artists and the numerous requests by SCN viewers.  Fresh new shows will be airing as the producers supply the programming to SCN.

Bruce Claassen, President and CEO of Bluepoint, which owns SCN, would like to thank the SCN Production and Programming team as well as SCN viewers, for helping guide some of these initiatives.  “While we are in a highly competitive market and business and recognize our current status as the new kid on the block, we remain unwavering in our goal to be the informative, entertaining and popular Television voice of Saskatchewan.”

Bluepoint Investment Inc. and SCN are wholly Canadian owned and operated and upon receiving a renewed and revised license from the CRTC, launched its completely revised commercial and non-commercial schedule on September 12, 2011.
