A big part of being a storyteller is sharing history and culture: SCN offers programs dealing with social, political and economic issues.

100 Saskatchewan Stories
100 Saskatchewan Stories is a celebration of our past with a shining outlook for our future. The stories cover the province geographically and span a timeline from the pioneers who first broke soil, to the scientists who have developed some of the latest cutting edge technologies.
Chinese School
There are 350 million children enrolled in further education across China, but 'Chinese School' takes as its subject one small town in rural Anhui, and focuses on the lives of a group of families, teachers and children during the course of a single academic year. They are schools like many thousands of others across this vast nation, but through the individual stories of hardship, joy and success, an extraordinary portrait emerges of a Nation, a town and a group of children in the midst of enormous change.
Edifice & Us
See some of Saskatchewan's most interesting buildings through the eyes of the people who create, inhabit, restore and care for them. From vanishing aboriginal and pioneer landmarks to 21st Century expressions of urban and rural prairie life, these buildings have an interesting construction or style, serve as an example of our heritage or have played a special role in the community. From the oldest to the newest, from the grand office tower to the simple sod hut, this thirteen part series explores buildings that shape our lives and our society.
Fish Out of Water
This half hour documentary series features the funny, unassuming host Don Kelly, a young, modern First Nations professional. He lives in Ottawa and works as an executive for a national Aboriginal organization. This super suave, comedic genius of Ojibway decent wants to rediscover his roots by going back to the land, however he discovers it isn't always as easy as it seems, as he flounders like a "fish out of water". By challenging himself and performing some extreme, traditional activities, Don attempts to master and understand the old ways.
For King and Empire
Visit the battlefields of France and Belgium to retrace the steps of Canadian soldiers in the First World War. Drawing on powerful memoirs and letters, tours of present day battlegrounds, cemeteries and archive footage, Canadian historian Norm Christie tells the stories of Canadian soldiers from their perspective and captures what it was really like to fight "For King and Empire".
Injustice
A child serial killer terrorizes the city of Saskatoon, a high school student is tortured to death over the course of a weekend by a gang. A man, pronounced clinically dead in an ambulance is revived, only to begin a string of serial murders six months later. InJustice is a documentary crime series that looks and feels like nothing else on television. Stunning visual effects, music, art and poetry combine to tell the story of these unique Saskatchewan crimes.
Landing
An award winning, first person documentary series, Landing tells the intimate stories of Canadians with diverse backgrounds.
Life Without Borders
Life Without Borders doesn't just visit rural Saskatchewan, it delights in rural Saskatchewan, it's characters, it's humor, its spirit, it's beauty. This is Heartland, and these are people who live where everyone dreams of escaping to-were it not so cold or so isolated, or so hard to find an office job and a Starbuck's. It's smart, it's funny, it's deep. it's about people who choose to experience this crazy world of ours by living here.
Long Shadows on the Road
Each show focuses on the biography of a Saskatchewan person of influence. These are people who have made significant contributions to their communities, to the province, and beyond. Their conversations with veteran writer and host Bruce Steele reveal unexpected aspects of well-known personalities and present reflections of highly admirable, lesser-known people.
Middle of Somewhere
Middle of Somewhere takes the viewers across the province discovering people and places with history, stories and viewpoints that will intrigue. Our host, Seán Virgo enlightens the viewer with a fresh perspective while discovering things are not quite what he expects.

Individual Documentaries

Anita's Africa
Anita Byaruhanga is a lively ten year old girl living with her aunt and cousins in a small village on the outskirts of Kampala, Uganda. In Anita's Africa young viewers are led on a fascinating tour of her neighborhood, her school, and the crowded streets of Kampala. The audience is also introduced to the wonderful and exotic animals who make their home not far from Anita's including elephants, giraffes, lions, and zebras. Young viewers will gain an understanding of life as it is for a ten year old in the developing world and come to appreciate the similarities and differences between their lives and Anita's.
Hecho en Saskatchewan
Pachi, Lia, David and Chichi, four musicians from the historic town of Trinidad de Cuba sing and dance their way across the Canadian prairies. In their path they leave audiences with the joy and vitality of their unique-brand of Latin American culture and music.

But the journey to the top is never easy and it is both the Rider's struggles as well as their triumphs that have helped define them as the nation that they have become. From 1910 to 2010, the crowning moments in Riders history and the perseverance of the greatest fans in the country are examined in this one hour HD documentary on the growth and century-old triumph of the Rider Nation.
Radical Dreamer: The Passionate Journey of Graham Spry
Called the "Father of Public Broadcasting" in Canada, Graham Spry believed that public broadcasting could unite Canada and put her on a world stage. Archival material is set against contemporary voices to unravel the secrets of this nation builder who faced many of the same challenges that confound policy makers today.
Vy's Vietnam
Le Van An Vy is an energetic 10 year old boy living in the ancient town of Hoi An, Vietnam. Through image and sound, young viewers are led on a fascinating tour of Vy's neighborhood and community and are introduced to the customs and traditions of his vibrant culture.
