What the Tudors & Stuarts Did for Us

Seeying the Worlde
Details: A voyage of discovery through the Tudor period with some remarkable inventions that changed the way the population viewed the world. Adam Hart-Davis tells the strange story of the humble pencil, invented by shepherds in the Lake District; he uses a Tudor lens to create a 16th-century home-movie; and travels on a replica Tudor ship to experience the technology which led a man from Bristol not Christopher Columbus as popularly conceived to be the first European of Tudor times to set foot in mainland North America. Finally, Adam examines controversial evidence that it was an English Scientist not a Dutch one who invented the first telescope.
